6th house- DISEASES, AILMENTS AND AFFLICTIONS

This is a moot point, wherein a great amount of difficulty is experienced by an astrologer in deciding what the disease the native is suffering from, or is likely to suffer from, for the astrologer may not be expert in medical science and as such, he may not be able to mention the name of the disease which the native is suffering, or is likely to suffer from. But the astrologer can find out the most vulnerable part of the human system and say that is the portion of the body which is likely to be affected seriously whenever there is an opportunity.

The 6th house is mentioned as the house of disease etc., of course, not only from the Ascendant but from the Moon Ascendant and from the house wherein the lord of the Ascendant is placed. The 6th house is a house of disease and sickness, of servitude and obscurity, accidents and adversities.

Ill-effect of 6th house

The 6th house only shows whether the native is going to suffer from disease and whether his health is generally good or bad, or whether he is going to have some ailment which is more or less permanent with him, or the affliction is of a temporary nature. As has been stated elsewhere, if the lord of the Ascendant should be strong, at least stronger than the lord of the 6th house, of course, he will be able to overcome the ailment with more ease and comfort than the one who has the lord of the Ascendant weak and the lord of the 6th house strong in his horoscope. One has to see which particular house and its lord are weak or afflicted. In Kalapurusha one can see Aries, the head and so on, until Pisces, the feet.

Some aspect of malefic planets

The same rule can be applied from the birth sign of an individual, and the researcher will have to find out which particular house is weekend by the aspect of malefic planets or its lord being placed with malefic, and so on, just as any bhava is examined. The confirmation of this can be had from the Moon Ascendant, as also from that house which has the lord of the Ascendant situated in it.

For instance, suppose one finds the 6th house very weak, in that it has the aspect of malefic planets and its lord is also weak. Therefore that house will be afflicted. That house according to the Ascendant will indicate ailments around the intestinal portion and navel. One will have to decide that particular portion of the physique is the most sensitive points in his body and that all diseases are likely to emanate from that house. Besides, he must also consider the humour of the planet which owns the 6th house and the humour of the planets which are expecting the 6th house as well as its lord.

A person may suffer from wind in the stomach or indigestion causing trouble in the intestines as well as near the navel. The excessive gas that is created by this process may also apparently make the native feel that he is having some trouble in his heart as well. It is just possible that the native may conclude, but the astrologer will have to get confirmation from the Moon Ascendant as well as the 6th house and from the house in which the lord of the ascendant is situated. Invariably, it can be seen in such cases that the 6th house from Aries is also afflicted in some form or the other. It is quite easy, astrologically, to find out the location of the disease but the native thought he was suffering from something else.

In another case, it was advised from the natal chart that had some problem in his liver, whereas, the doctors thought it was trouble in the kidneys and there was an operation. The doctors assured him he would be alright. Three months later, the patient went to the doctors with a bloated stomach. It was then that doctor diagnosed the ailment as originating from the liver and the patient was subject to another operation. So, one has to be very careful in predicting diseases and the weakest house in the horoscope will have to be carefully searched, for, according to the rules mentioned above and then a conclusion reached. This is true for all diseases, physical infirmities, ailments and accidents.

If Mars is weak in a horoscope, the native may from want of enough bone marrow and if Mercury is weak, he may suffer from skin diseases, nervous complaints, etc., meaning, thereby that the humor of each planet and the tendency of each sign of the Zodiac must be borne in mind.

Annexure

The lord of the Ascendant must be strong. In his own house or exaltation between benefices favorably placed from the ascendant and not associated or expected by malefic, the lord of the ascendant must be considered to be strong.
The lord of Ascendant in 3rd, 6th, 8th, or 12th house must be considered to be weak. Being expected by malefic is an indication of weakness. Birth in Suklapakshami must be deemed to be preferable to be born in Krishnapakshmi. Especially for benefices, Krishnapakshmi is not good. The Lords of the kendras must be strong and well placed. The lords of the 8th house must not have malefic aspects. A benefice aspect will be very good in giving extended life.

If any planet or planets be strong at the time of birth of a person in his horoscope, the mental qualities represented by the said planets will be equally strong in the person, if the planets be weak, the corresponding mental attributes will also be weak, but in the case of Saturn alone, there is an exception and, that is, if Saturn be active in the Horoscope, the misery represented by Saturn will be less but if Saturn be weak, the misery will be greater.

The different planets have particular characteristics:
